Merav Cohen Ensemble
Merav Cohen is a Haifa born professional dancer and choreographer, Creates and Performs as an independent artist since 2008, winner of the 2015 Minister of Culture and Sports’ award.
Graduate of the Dance Department of the Reut School of Arts; Graduate of the Haifa Contemporary Dance Workshop; Performed with the Bat Kol Dance Company and the Young Kibbutz Dance Company. As a dancer she has worked with Idan Cohen, Smadar Yaaron, Osnat Shank Yosef, Maya Dunsky Mansoura, and Keren Ida Natan; performed as lead dancer in Idan Raichel’s video-clip, “Hakol Over.” Her Choreographic works include:
“Doves Drowned in the River”, “Laugh for Me”, “Daydreams”, “Hunting the Memory”, “Goggy Pleasures” and “The Merkava” that were performed in many theaters and festivals. In 2011 she produced and created “When the Beast Returned” for the Gvanim Dance Festival subsequently performed by Ido Tadmor at festivals in Israel and abroad and at the “Pachot Mi Eleph” gallery. Her work “Bugs” opened the 2014 “Haramat Masach” Festival and there after it was performed by Rona-Lee Shimon at the Suzanne Dellal Theater.
Cohen is the director of the “Creative Artist Portrait” course at the Akko theater Center which she founded in 2014. Teacher and facilitator of improvisation and movement workshops, creative processes and choreographic tools inspired by Butoh and according to Grotowski’s training methods. Teacher of Shadow Yoga.
